Train
|
- The Eurostar goes direct to Bourg St Maurice from Waterloo . Or it may be cheaper to get the Eurostar to Paris and then the TGV to Bourg.
- The Blue Snowtrain ( http://www.raileurope.co.uk ). You depart from Folkstone on a Friday evening on a coach which takes you through the Channel Tunnel. On the other side you join the overnight train with couchette accommodation that takes you all the way to Bourg.
- Or there's the White Snowtrain, which goes from Waterloo to Paris where you pick up the snow Train. both trains return late on Saturday, arriving back in England on Sunday afternoon. This can give you up to 7.5 days skiing.
Remember that you will need transport in Bourg. There is a branch of Europcar in Bourg ( www.europcar.com ). You will be able to hire snowchains there too.

Drive
|
The speed limit in France is 130kph (about 82mph) and the drive from Calais takes about 8 hrs if two of you shared the driving with minimal stops. Obviously you need to add time to this if you want longer stops. We can give you details of the best route that we have found if you require. Road tolls cost about €50 each way if you take the peage (motorways - this is by far the quickest way). Remember you may need snow chains in Bourg
