Bourg St Maurice is linked to the ski resort of Les Arcs by a funicular railway that whisks you up the mountain in 7mins. There’s a huge free car park and ski rental (www.polairestar.com) at the bottom of the funicular railway to Les Arcs. There’s lots more ski rental throughout the town and in the resorts. It’s easy to hire gear on your arrival or you can book in advance.
Les Arcs has recently been linked to the resort of La Plagne by the biggest and fastest cable car in the world, the Vanoise Express, which can carry 200 hundred people and takes less than four minutes. Together they make one of the largest ski resorts in the world with upwards of 400 km of pistes
Because the location of the apartment is in the valley, it takes much less time to drive to all the other resorts around. So it's perfect for those of you who want to experience what some of these other great resorts have to offer. You are within easy reach of:
- Val d'Isere& Tignes the mecca of skiing, is just 30 minutes drive.
- The Three Valleys , made up of Meribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens, is around 45 minutes drive.
- La Rosiere (and from there La Thuile in Italy ) and St Foy are also within 20 -30 minutes drive.
This area of France neighbours Mont Blanc and the resorts are amongst the highest in Europe so they are more snow sure than most. On some occasions the ski season at Val d'Isere extends into May. There is normally good snow in the bigger and higher resorts through April.
